I wish more people would play Duddingston Castle! I play this Scottish reel with Miss Sackville’s Fancy and Arthur’s Seat. I learned Duddingston Castle from the lovely Perthshire fiddle player, Pete Clark. More on the other two tunes in future blogs.

An old set and a new tune

No one plays Miss Ferguson of Rayth or Father Eugene’s Welcome to Cape North!

I wonder why – they’re lovely tunes and a great set.

And then there’s a new one for me to learn from the session last night – The Guizer’s March.

Such a lovely easter… kayaking, walking and yoga all in one day! Truth be told, I’m feeling extremely stiff and sore today.

Best waltz set that I’m playing now:

Sommer Valse

Boden Valse

So what are you playing these days?

Lau at Easdale Hall Tonight

Another event organized by the brilliant Easdale Island Arts programming committee. Thank you Wee!

Why not an oldie but goodie set?

Maid Behind the Bar

The Old Gray Cat

Flowers of Edinburgh

with soul (you’ll understand… if you were there).

Thankfully, Muggsy is still alive after eating part of an easter egg that her older brother left lying around. We were sooooo worried – did the salt-water making sick routine… and it seems to have worked. Rosie (a neighbouring westhighland terrier), who ate a whole bar of dark chocolate plus a box of belgian chocolates at christmas time was much sicker, so we think that the quality of kitkat milk chocolate eggs was sufficiently low to help!

Reminder 1 – only buy cheap chocolate easter eggs

Reminder 2 – get some Ipecac syrup on hand for emergencies.

Glorious weather… and too much to do

Shame to be sitting indoors learning about wordpress when the weather is so great…

At least I’ve now got a theme for my blog but I’ll be changing it regularly till I find one that really suits me. Watch this space!

Sometimes, learning too many tunes means it’s hard to play any of them in sessions! I’d forgotten how lovely these tunes are together:

Garster’s Dream DGBBGBcndcBAG
Shaalds o Foula DE_GGeedBBAB
Miss Campbell of Sheerness Beef#gfafgeBe~fgfge

Will this weather never end?

* moved from blogger. 31st March

Rain, rain and no end in sight. Cold, miserable and it’s almost April.

Perhaps this is a country-wide April Fool’s?

Lovely tunes over Bailey’s in the Ghillie Mhor.

Set – Iúil x 4 Butterfly x 3 slow Iúil to finish.

So that’s what this is going to be all about… plus some local interest stuff, a bit of culinary stuff, and maybe even a bit of philosophical stuff…

Philosophically… the “garden” room building project, which was supposed to take 8 weeks is now in it’s 13th week, and we’ve just heard that the windows will take another 6 – 8 weeks to be manufactured… which is a bummer, but we’re trying to be philosophical.

The dogs are the maddest as they haven’t been able to go into the garden since all the building started…
